Well – Better Running Through Walking – NYTimes.com

Walk breaks are a way for older, less fit and overweight people to take part in a sport that would otherwise be off limits. But most surprising are the stories from veteran runners who say run-walk training has helped them post faster race times than ever.

The “run-walk” method is enabling a whole host of folks who would not otherwise be able to run for exercise, but find walking alone less than satisfactory.

Lately, more and more distance runners are finding that their times, performance, and even their injury downtime are improving with this method.

Now I have an excuse for walking up that big hill on the return home 🙂
