Health Bill Clears Hurdle, and Hints at Consensus

The major bills offer the promise of more affordable insurance for people who are uninsured, including those with chronic illnesses. Under the legislation, it might be easier for people to switch jobs because they would not have to stay in less desirable jobs just to retain health insurance. The bills promise relief to people with huge out-of-pocket health costs and would eliminate co-payments for many preventive services.

Well, Congress wraps up and takes a vacation. Last night another house committee completely a mark-up session and voted to put the bill to the floor.

No doubt, this is going to be a painful process… compromise always is. Compromise will almost certainly assure that we will have an OK health care reform bill as opposed to a phenomenal bill.

Although I am a proponent of reforming our health care system to improve access and quality, while trying to limit cost… I remain skeptical that the bill we eventually end up with will adequately address these issues.

We’ll see… BTW… has anybody mentioned tort reform ?
