An obscure parliamentary maneuver favored by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suddenly ignited Tuesday as the latest tinder in the year-long partisan strife over reshaping the nation’s health-care system, triggering debate over the strategy’s legitimacy and political wisdom.
Granted the political landscape is difficult to negotiate… especially with such a hot topic as health insurance reform… but the constitution states that the house passes laws as a majority. I learned that watching PBS as an 8 yr old on those cute little cartoons. With a proposal this big and so far reaching…. and a platform that will forever change how the government interacts/controls its citizens, this bill deserves an up or down vote… not a parliamentary tactic.
